This figure would be much higher if food packaging was abandoned. The key to reducing food waste is developing packaging that extends product life for consumers so more is eaten. Paragon Flexibles have pioneered food science applications at their technology centre in Gainsborough delivering optimised flow wrap and lidding films. This technology, Freshlife for petrochemical films and Freshlife for compostable films extends shelflife and improves consumer eating experience beyond present timescales. We have combined our Freshlife technology with our Polyester film and developed a mono composite solution for mushrooms packed in PET trays that has significantly extended shelf life. This development helps reduce both Food and packaging waste.

This combination has proven significant in extending the shelf life of mushrooms using Paragon Flexibles mono composite film.
